Going Green - On the Roof!
Today, many roof tops are built the same way. They utilize gravel, shingles, or other man made covering to prevent snow and rain from harming a building. While these methods work, there are negative aspects to such a roof, and a lot of untapped potential that we can take advantage of.

At EnviroPerfect Solutions we believe that the roof of your business or home, or any building, has the potential to become a growing environment for plants.

Contact EnviroPerfect Solutions today about putting a Green Roof on your building.

Current Roof Top Technology

Many man made materials used in roof top design are effective in their function, but are not without their drawbacks.

Glare - Visually annoying even to us, glare also wards off many birds, reducing the city's lifescape. It is also a symptom of a much larger problem.

Thermal Dynamics - Urban landscapes are very often hard, flat, and easily reflect the radiant heat of the sun. When this heat bounces off man made surfaces, or heats them up, thermal heat is generated in very high amounts.

The first problem this causes is to make the city hotter than it needs to be for the inhabitants. The second problem is that the thermal heat naturally rises, and arches into the upper atmosphere, driving away moisture and clouds. This means less diffusion of sunlight, resulting in more direct heat, and less percipitation. Cities become hotter and drier. The surrounding countryside suffers as well.

Green Roof Systems

A garden roof can greatly increase the beauty and value of your home. It is a wonderful place to relax and let stress just melt away.

Benefits

Thermal Dynamic Management
Green roofs take the sun's radiant heat and store it. The soil and plants that make up the roof are filled with water, and water has a very high capacity for storing heat energy. The result is a cooling effect for urban areas in warmer climates. This is wonderful for cities in especially hot climates, whose reliance on air conditioning actually makes the heat problem worse in areas with less air circulation. Typically, this is found in valleys and downtown areas.

The natural landscape built into your roofing system also reflects much less heat, so that we have a much less significant rise of thermal heat, pushing clouds away from the area.

Studies have also shown that the presence of water in the ground, works to attract percipitation. Water in the atmosphere is drawn to water in the ground. If we install green roofs, these store water, and encourage more rain to fall, reducing our need for urban irrigation (watering lawn, trees, etc.). This saves money on treatment costs, and reduces the amount of water taken from natural resevoirs, lakes, rivers and other natural water supplies.

Increased Lifescape
Green roofs attract bugs and birds, and help restore a small part of the natural ecosystem throughout the urban area. Imagine waking up to the sounds of sparrows and robins, instead of the occassional cackle of crows and magpies.

Social Circles
What better place to relax during a busy work day, than to spend a few minutes on the roof with your feet in the grass, under the shade of a beautiful tree. It's like taking an elevator to your own personal paradise.

Greenhouse Gases
Any green plants work wonders when it comes to processing the pollution and excess greenhouse gases produced in urban areas. By growing a green roof, you can help fight these negative effects of urbanization.
